Copper Domains

Domain acquisitions

A private buyer of .com names.

Copper Domains is a portfolio of .com names. We purchase outright, with our own funds, and close through Escrow.com or a marketplace checkout. Have one to sell? Send the name.

01

How a sale works

Four steps, all in writing. Once a price is agreed, the clock is set by escrow and the registrar: a same-registrar push can close the same day, a transfer between registrars usually inside a week.

STEP 1

You send the name

Email the domain, and a number if you have one in mind. If you would rather we go first, say so and we will.

Name · optional price
STEP 2

You get an answer

A yes with a figure, or a plain no. We reply to every name within three business days, including the ones we pass on.

≤ 3 business days
STEP 3

We agree terms

Price, closing route and who moves first, confirmed in one email. Escrow.com, or a checkout at the marketplace where the name is already listed.

Escrow.com · Afternic · Dan · Sedo
STEP 4

Transfer and payment

You push the name to our registrar account or send the auth code. Funds release to you when the name lands. We never ask you to transfer first without escrow.

Push same day · auth code 5–7 days

What we buy

We tell you up front whether we want a name, and what we will pay for it.

We are looking for

  • Mostly real estate.
  • .com only.
  • Plain-English phrases.
  • Names you are no longer using.

We pass on

  • Other extensions.
  • Trademarked names.
  • Payment plans or lease-to-own.
  • Brokers.

Why sell to us

We pay wholesale, and we say so. What that buys you is a certain sale: a stated figure, a dated close, no commission, full payment through escrow or the marketplace.

04

What you can hold us to

The terms we work to. Quote them back to us.

01

Written answers only

Everything happens by email so both sides have a record. We do not cold-call, and we do not ask for a phone number.

02

A reply to every name

Yes with a figure, or no. We do not go silent on a name once you have sent it.

03

Full payment at closing

Funds are placed with Escrow.com or paid through the marketplace checkout before the name moves. No installments, no partial payments.

04

You choose the route

Escrow.com, or a marketplace where the name is already listed. Push or auth code. We work with your registrar, not around it.

05

Nothing collected here

This site has no analytics, no cookies and no third-party scripts. The only data we hold is the email you send us.

06

No obligation

Sending a name is a question, not a commitment. If our number is not what you hoped, say no and keep the name.

Questions owners ask

Anything not covered, ask Grant.

Who is Copper Domains?

A private portfolio of .com names, based in the United States. Grant handles acquisitions and is the person who emails you. There is no sales team and nothing is outsourced.

You emailed me about my domain. Is this real?

If the message came from an address ending in @copperdomains.com, yes. Reply to it, or write to grant@copperdomains.com fresh if you prefer. We do not use other domains or free mailboxes for this.

We wrote to you about one name. Will you look at others?

Yes. Send any .com you would consider selling, in the same email, one name per line. We will answer each, or put one figure on the lot if you would rather sell them together. Your choice.

Do I have to name a price first?

No. Send the name alone and we will go first with a figure. Many owners prefer this; it costs you nothing to hear the number.

One deal from this name would pay for it many times over. Why sell at wholesale?

Names like it have a record of what they actually sell for, and we price from that record, the way an agent prices from closed sales. Send the name; you will get a figure either way.

How do I get paid?

Two ways. Escrow.com: we open and fund the transaction, you transfer the name, Escrow.com releases the money to you once it lands. Or, if your name is already listed at Afternic, Dan, Sedo or a similar marketplace, we buy it there at the agreed price and the marketplace handles payment and transfer. Details are on the closing and transfer page.

Who pays the escrow fee?

Agreed in the same email as the price. Say what you expect and we will tell you yes or no before anything is opened.

My domain is about to expire. Does that matter?

Tell us the date. A name that has already expired can still be transferred in most cases, but the window and the mechanics change, so the sooner we know the simpler the closing.

Why no phone number?

Because a domain sale is a handful of exact strings: a name, a price, an auth code, a transaction number. Email keeps every one of them on record for both of us. If a closing needs a call, we will set one up at that point.

Do you sell names too?

This site is for buying.
